Christian Eriksen made his first professional appearance on Saturday for Brentford eight months after collapsing from a cardiac arrest during the Euros. In the 52nd minute of Brentford’s game against Newcastle the entire crowd inside Brentford Community Stadium stood on its feet to welcome Eriksen back to the field.

The debut wasn’t in the most ideal situation as Brentford had been playing with 10 men for nearly the entire game after Josh Dasilva was given a red card after a VAR review in the 11th minute.
Goals from Joelinton and Joe Willock 11 minutes apart gave the Magpies a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Eriksen’s introduction to the game brought a hint of life to Brentford, however the job proved too much as Eriksen’s new club didn’t record a shot on target until the 93rd minute.
The result puts Brentford 15th in the table and in serious danger of relegation. The Bees are only three points above 18th placed Burnley. Every team below Brentford has games in hand including Everton which has played four less games.
