Let’s set the scene real quick. Friday’s game was a derby between Hamburg and St. Pauli, the two big clubs in Hamburg and the top two sides in the 2. Bundesliga. Friday’s game was for more than cross-town bragging rights as a win for Hamburg would tie them on points for the No. 1 spot.
In a game that big you think the players would be locked in. This Hamburg goalkeeper own goal in the 27th minute would make you think otherwise.

Perhaps the pass back to the goalkeeper wasn’t the smartest move, however nobody could have predicted that Fernandes was going to boot the ball into the roof of his goal.
We’ll cut Fernandes a tiny bit of slack as the ball did take a gnarly skip before it got to his feet.
Regardless of the bounce, this has to win own goal of the year. When was the last time you saw an own goal this beautifully chaotic?
The own goal gave St. Pauli a 2-0 lead, but Hamburg fought back to earn a 2-2 draw.
