Mahrez and Vardy Owning Chelsea
What would you say the odds were that Leicester City was going to be atop the table 16 games into the BPL campaign? Or the odds that Jamie Vardy would have as many league goals as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi combined? Well, Leicester was about a 2500-1 favorite to win the title back in August, and Jamie Vardy having as manys goals as CR7 and La Pulga combined, we'll go ahead and set the odds at 1,000,000-1.
So pretty unlikely.. But you're saying there's a chance. Both scenarios are currently coming to fruition. Leicester are atop the table, two points clear of Arsenal and Vardy's 15 goals matches Messi and Ronaldo's combined 15 (CR7 has 10, Messi has 5. He missed 6 weeks with injury). So what else was unlikely going into this season? How about defending champions Chelsea being 1 point from relegation? That's true too, and Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez had something to do with it, each scoring golazo's in LC's 2-1 victory against Jose Mourinho's bunch. Vardy's goal (below) was simply him and Mahrez being on the same page. Mahrez sent in a perfect ball and a streaking Vardy blew past the Chelsea defense to get a boot on the ball. Then Mahrez sealed the deal. The Algerian international danced in the box taking his defender left and right before finding a small gap to rip a left footed shot past a diving Courtois. These two are on a tear right now. They have 26 goals combined, which is more 81/98 teams in Europe's top leagues. Now what do you think the odds were on that?
