What a week it’s been for 20-year-old Hirving “Chucky” Lozano. First, the Mexican winger was included in Mexico’s 18-man squad for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Then, Pachuca’s rising star was linked with a massive transfer to Manchester United in the Premier League. Finally, Lozano began the 2016 Liga MX Apertura with two goals and an assist in Pachuca’s 5-1 demolition of Leon.
Both of Lozano’s goals show exactly why he’s such a promising young talent for El Tri. He opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a thumping volley from around 10 yards out. After controlling the cross superbly with his chest, Lozano made absolutely no mistake with the finish, smashing the ball into the top-left corner and sending Estadio Hidalgo into rapture.
Lozano’s second goal also showed why Manchester United remain firmly interested and why Mexico have a chance of retaining their gold medal in August. After receiving the ball at the left-hand corner of the box, Lozano cooly took a touch before sending a rasping drive to the near post.

Pachuca would go on to win the match 5-1 with additional goals from Jonathan Urretaviscaya, John Medina and Franco Jara. Pachuca and Lozano return to action on July 23rd against Chiapas. Los Jaguares beware.
