Around this time last year, ESPN FC used an unnamed source to confirm that Christian Pulisic would reflect on his year at the end of the year. The revelation of the American phenom being a thinking, existing-in-time real boy hopefully brought the clicks, but the sports behemoth is back with another summer blockbuster: if the 19-year-old doesn’t sign an extension on his contract (which expires in the summer of 2020), then he’ll be sold in the summer of 2019!!!
That’s right, the German club that’s now spent three and a half years developing, nurturing and providing for one of the world’s most sought-after teenagers would rather earn ~$60 million from his sale next summer over losing him for nothing. Can you believe that?!
Dortmund and new manager Lucien Favre, of course, have a year to hammer out an extension with Pulisic. The American has made no secret of his love for the club, and he’ll almost certainly enjoy playing under the dynamic and attack-minded philosophy of Favre — and no formal bids have yet been registered for the Pennsylvania native — but still, in the words of ESPN: CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC WILL BE SOLD...
... if his contract is about to expire.
I would also like to be the first to report that if Pulisic is sold to a new club and signs a contract *speaks to source* there's a huge chance that he'll be sold again if that contract is later about to expire.
It’s worth noting that when the respective times come, the same could be said of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Eden Hazard, Toni Kroos and Kevin De Bruyne. That’s literally how the transfer market works.
