Undoubtedly, there’s a lot on a player’s mind heading into the day of a massive game.
Especially when that important fixture is a Champions League match. Especially when you are an 18-year-old star shouldering high expectations. Especially when you’re a member of the away club on a homecoming trip to the city you were born and raised in for the first time in your professional career.
Perhaps Jadon Sancho had his mind too fixated on that big stage ahead. This might — MIGHT — explain why he forgot a pretty important item on the way to Borussia Dortmund's Champions League game against Tottenham on Wednesday night at Wembley Stadium.
The English winger realized he was without his passport upon arriving at the Dortmund airport. The team’s flight was delayed so that the passport could be retrieved.
Of course, the team could spare a little wait for the player that very well could be the game changer Wednesday for the German side. Sancho’s talents in the final third will perhaps be more important than they have this whole season as Dortmund will be without Marco Reus, Paco Alcacer, Julian Weigl and Lukasz Piszcek against the Spurs.
Sancho and Dortmund enter the Round of 16 after finishing atop Group A. Their opponents, in Tottenham, secured second place in Group B above Inter Milan after an impressive draw against Barcelona.
Now that he has officially arrived in London, Sancho can finally focus on his performance.
