Ladies and gentlemen, we did it. The Las Vegas Lights of the USL Championship have set the unofficial world record for the largest water balloon fight at a soccer match.
Nobody said it couldn’t be done — they only asked “why?” The answer, of course, is Las Vegas Lights FC.
America’s Team.
The team that once dropped $5K in cash from a helicopter over its fans. The team with the best worst jersey in sports. The team with an Elvis-looking mascot. The team with multiple llamas that have been known to shit on the field close to kick-off time.
And it's now the team with the world’s largest halftime water balloon fight bragging rights.

A total of 20,640 water balloons were tossed by over 1,000 fans.
On the pitch, the Lights triumphed 1-0 over Portland Timbers 2 thanks to a goal from former LA Galaxy attacker Jose Villarreal. The Lights are currently in 14th place in the Western Conference, but only four points behind San Antonio FC for the eighth and final playoff spot.
