Unlike the Premier League, which increases its schedule during the holidays, the Bundesliga takes a winter break. The month-long hiatus began after Sunday’s matches. It’s sad for fans who want to watch German football over the coming weeks — and doubly so for the Bundesliga mascots.

The most touching moment of all came near the end of the video when Brian of Bayer Leverkusen and Erwin of Schalke embraced. That’s what we all need right now: a hug from an oversized mascot.
Sadly, the Bundesliga won’t return until Jan. 12. In the meantime, we can enjoy some DFB-Pokal action Tuesday and Wednesday, but after that, be kind to your fellow Bundesliga mascots. They’re going through a rough time. We miss them already.
