UCLA sent a message to the nation on Monday. The message was a terrifying one, something like opening up your mailbox and finding a ransom note covered in spiders. Don’t mess with the Bruins.
They destroyed the nation’s top ranked NCAA team, the Akron Zips, 6-1 at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles. With UCLA enjoying a 2-0 in the game’s 52nd minute, it was now or never with regards to Akron mounting a comeback.
By the game’s 53rd minute, the score was 5-0 in favor of UCLA. Calling it a half-minute of madness would be an understatement. The three goals in a 32-second span broke a 27-year-old NCAA record.
For the sake of the children, let’s hope that UCLA’s record stands for a long time to come.
