Amazing Goals

Napoli forward Matteo Politano scored deep into stoppage time to give them a 2-1 win at home to Udinese on Sunday, minutes after defender Kalidou Koulibaly had rescued the hosts with a dramatic goal-line clearance.

Udinese forward Rodrigo De Paul looked set to score in the 85th minute when the ball ran loose to him with only goalkeeper David Ospina to beat. He dinked it over the Colombian but Koulibaly managed to get his knee to it and deflect it onto the crossbar.

Instead, Politano curled in the winner for Napoli, his first goal for the club, in the 95th minute.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard — who made 29 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2014 — is back on our radar after scoring the first goal of his career while playing for Sweden’s Helsingborg.

In a match between Allsvenskan strugglers, Helsingborg escaped with a draw against Falkenberg after Lindegaard came forward for a corner kick in the 90th minute and planted a towering header inside the far post.  

Frankie Amaya scored his first career goal in the 76th minute, and FC Cincinnati took advantage of short-handed Atlanta United to pull off a stunning 1-0 victory Thursday in the MLS is Back Tournament near Orlando.

The win was the first of the season for Cincinnati (1-0-3, 3 points), and an even bigger upset within Group E at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Cincinnati lost its opener 4-0 to rival Columbus, but prevailed thanks to an undisciplined Atlanta side that finished the match with nine men.

The Washington Spirt defeated the Houston Dash 1-0 in the final match of the preliminary round for both teams with Bayley Feist’s 16th-minute strike proving the difference.

Even without Rose Lavelle in the squad, the Spirit controlled the match while completing a Challenge Cup-best total of 507 passes. 18 of those came in one passage of play that included nine different Spirit players and ended with Feist providing the finish from the edge of the area.

With the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season cancelled and PSG declared champion for the seventh time in eight years, the club has turned to friendlies to stay sharp with participation in the Coupe de France final (July 24 vs. Saint-Étienne), Coupe de la Ligue final (July 31 vs. Lyon) and Champions League quarterfinals (Aug. 12 vs. Atalanta) still to come.

With Serge Aurier on his back and Davinson Sánchez and Harry Winks converging, Alexandre Lacazette took two touches into space before rifling a 20-yard effort beyond Hugo Lloris to open the scoring in Sunday’s North London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

The natural sound — enjoyed through the NBC Sports website stream — perfectly captured the violence of Lacazette’s punishing finish. The highlights provided by NBC and Telemundo include the simulated crowd noise, but Lacazette’s punt is still audible and the “SHWACK” of the net remains entirely satisfying. 

Danny Welbeck's spectacular bicycle kick propelled Watford to three vital points in their battle against Premier League relegation as they came from behind to beat Norwich City 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.

Former England international Welbeck scored his first league goal for Watford since joining at the start of the season in the 56th minute and it proved the winner as they moved four points clear of the relegation places with four games remaining. It was his first goal since August 2018 when he was still playing for Arsenal.
