HONG KONG - China head coach Li Tie has included five overseas-born players in his 26-man squad ahead of the resumption of their World Cup qualifying campaign later this month.

The former Everton player has selected England-born duo defender Tyias Browning and midfielder Nico Yennaris as well as Brazil-born forwards Elkeson, Alan Carvalho and Fernandinho.

Browning, Elkeson, Carvalho and Fernandinho are among seven Guangzhou FC players in the squad, with the eight-time Chinese Super League champions dominating the selection.

Australia Coach Wants Messi Included In What He Calls Tokyo’s “Group Of Dreams”

MELBOURNE - Upbeat Australia coach Graham Arnold has urged Argentina to bring Lionel Messi to the Olympics and described their tough pool as Tokyo's "group of dreams.”

Drawn with twice champions Argentina, 1992 winners Spain and Egypt, the “Olyroos” face an uphill battle to reach the knockout rounds of the 16-team tournament, their first Games since Beijing in 2008.

Outrageous Display Of Dribbling Upstaged By Fine Boi With The Zoomies

Adelaide United kept pace with Central Coast Mariners at the top of Australia’s A-League by defeating Macarthur 3-1 at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday.

Highlights from the match include 20-year-old winger Al Hassan Touré decimating three defenders at once, a lovely finish by Ben Halloran and a feral cat that clearly just wanted to try "the new Parmi Burger at Macca’s" … I have zero clue what’s going on at McDonald’s franchises Down Under but I like it.

Melbourne Victory Claims W-League Title With 120th-Minute Olimpico

Melbourne Victory forward Kyra Cooney-Cross scored directly from a corner in the final minute of extra time to help her team beat Sydney FC in the W-League Grand Final on Sunday and be crowned champions of Australia for the second time.

Melbourne created the majority of the chances at Sydney's Kogarah Oval in the latest edition of the "Big Blue" rivalry but needed a last-gasp effort to triumph thanks largely to the heroics of Sydney goalkeeper Jada Whyman.

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 Facing Challenges A Few Months Out

Russia will host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from Aug. 19-29. The qualifying matches have yet to be played. In some countries, the curfew and lockdowns are still in force due to Covid-19 and the global health crisis.

The million-dollar question: Will there or won't there be a beach soccer World Cup this summer in Europe? I would say: It all depends on the pandemic, its consequences and the accumulation of international sports events that have been postponed since 2020.

Mongolia Keeper Records 11 Saves Against Japan, Still Loses 14-0

Waking up and looking at Tuesday’s schedule of international football, I couldn’t help but notice the final score of one match that had already finished out in Chiba, Japan. The Japan national team had put up two touchdowns — a fortnight of scoring — on Mongolia in World Cup qualifying.

The 14-0 win isn’t the biggest in Japan’s history (15-0 over the Philippines in 1967), nor was it the biggest defeat in 190th-ranked Mongolia’s (15-0 to Uzbekistan in 1998).

One League’s New Streaming Plan Seems Like A Great Idea To Me (If Only Every Other League Agreed)

Last summer, South Korea’s K League 1 became the first major soccer league to return to play during the Covid-19 pandemic. The K League attracted viewers from around the globe as fans everywhere were desperate for live sports.

Chinese Football In Chaos After CSL Champion Jiangsu FC Ends Operations

BEIJING - Chinese football was thrown into disarray on Sunday as the owners of reigning Chinese Super League champions Jiangsu FC announced the club would cease operations with immediate effect.

A post on Jiangsu's official WeChat account expressed hope of new backers or that a "company of insight" would be willing to consult on the team's future.

The announcement stated all of owners Suning Group's football clubs, including the hugely successful Jiangsu Suning Women, would "cease operations from today.”

Biter Goes After Player's Ribs Like They’re Slathered In Sweet-Tinged Tomato Sauce

Edu Bedia is one of the biggest names in the Indian Super League. The 31-year-old Spanish midfielder — after stints with Racing Santander, Barcelona B, 1860 Munich and Real Zaragoza — has been with FC Goa since 2017 and now serves as the club’s captain.
