Jelena Sever, a junior midfielder for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers, ripped a shot straight from the opening whistle and into the back of the net in a mere 3.2 seconds, setting the Division I record for fastest goal in college soccer history on Saturday.
After a 2020 season that was hugely disrupted by COVID-19, resulting in both the men’s and women’s College Cup finals being played back on May 17, the 2021 NCAA Division I soccer season marks a return to normalcy as we’re now almost two weeks into the fall campaign.

It was a foggy Saturday morning soccer match and I was defending the goal spectating the action going on the field.
