21-year-old Luka Zahovic, a Slovenian youth international who was nominated for the FIFA Golden Boy award in 2014, has scored a beautiful goal for Maribor in league play.

An audacious flick with the heel of his boot served as a remarkable first touch, leaving two defenders in his wake. With the keeper rushing out and his angle narrowing, Zahovic’s second touch is a deft lob on the half-volley that arches over the goalkeeper and just under the crossbar.  

Going into the second leg of a Champions League match down 1-5 against mighty Bayern Munich isn’t ideal. But Theo Walcott and Arsenal got an early goal in the 20th minute that gave them a glimmer of hope.

After appearing a shadow of his former self throughout the season, particularly over a wretched three-month period stretching from early December through late February when Wes Morgan outscored him by plundering a goal against Derby County,  Riyad Mahrez sprang to life with a magical and all-important goal against Hull City on Saturday.

After twisting and turning at the top of the box, the Algerian scored his fourth goal of the Premier League season, lifting Leicester City five points clear of the relegation zone in the process.

From a neutral’s perspective, thank God for Harry Kane. Tottenham defeated Everton 3-2 on Sunday in a match featuring the Premier League’s leading scorers, Kane and Romelu Lukaku.

18-year-old American attacker Christian Pulisic scored his third Bundesliga goal of the campaign and registered his fifth assist in Borussia Dortmund’s 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. 

Pulisic entered the match in the 44th minute after an injury to Marco Reus forced him off. The German international is expected to be sidelined until April with his latest injury setback. 

With Chicharito entering the match in the 66th minute and Wendell pulling a goal back for Bayer to make the scoreline 3-2 in the 74th minute, Pulisic’s composed finish dashed any hopes of a comeback.

Tim Krul is best known for being brought on by Louis van Gaal before the Netherlands penalty shootout against Costa Rica in the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals. It was a rare decision that turned out to be a stroke of genius from Van Gaal, with Krul saving penalties from both Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana to send the Netherlands into the semifinals.
