Friday's 0-0 draw exposes the difference in expectations between the United States and England

In the aftermath of the fifth 0-0 draw at this year’s World Cup, the reception has been mixed. The abnormality in this instance is that your location in relation to the Atlantic Ocean seems to determine your opinions regarding the result and the match as a whole.

Mbappé double sends France into the knockout round

The reigning World Champions are always among the favorites to repeat four years later. Since 2010, however, the previous victors have all stumbled and fallen at the first hurdle, going out in the group stage in what has come to be known as the champions curse.

Each example has been as baffling as the last, but France has finally put an end to the curse by clinching a spot in the knockout round with a 2-1 win over Denmark.

Epic fail from Saudi Arabia defender gifts Robert Lewandowski his first World Cup goal

Despite another impressive performance from Saudi Arabia, Poland defeated the World Cup underdogs 2-0 on Saturday. We also got to see the first ever Robert Lewandowski World Cup goal.

The score doesn’t accurately reflect how dominant Saudi Arabia was through most of the game. It was Poland that was able to finish some of its chances.

Lewandowski provided the assist for Piotr Zielinski in the 39th minute to help Poland score their first goal of the tournament.

Australia's Socceroos win first World Cup game in 12 years and go wild

AL WAKRAH — Australia beat Tunisia 1-0 at the Al Janoub Stadium on Saturday to register their first World Cup victory in 12 years as they provisionally moved up to second in Group D behind reigning champions France.

Striker Mitchell Duke scored midway through the first half with a glancing header past keeper Aymen Dahmen to give Australia the lead, while Tunisia's best chance came when skipper Youssef Msakni shot just wide.

Here are the 3 big takeaways and things to fix from the USA’s heroic 0-0 tie with England

The United States men’s national team defied the doubters and earned a tough 0-0 draw against England on Friday. In all honesty the USA had the better chances in the game and some fans will have wished to get a win vs. the Three Lions.

The first big chance came to England in the opening 10 minutes with Walker Zimmerman having a crucial block against Harry Kane.

USA player ratings vs. England: The whole country is behind these boys now

The USMNT "won" another famous World Cup draw with England on Friday, battling to a 0-0 stalemate in a gripping affair in which the U.S. outshot the Three Lions 10 to eight, earned seven corners and, without a doubt, inspired its country back home.

Before the tournament started, if U.S. supporters were offered the eventual outcome of only needing to beat Iran to advance to the last-16 they'd have taken that agreement in a heartbeat. Well, that's the scenario the U.S. faces on Tuesday after Iran beat Wales 2-0 earlier in the day.

12 years of training, $300 billion spent and Qatar's World Cup is over in 6 days

The host nation Qatar always needed a miracle to advance beyond the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. Despite an intensive 12-year program to turn the program from a minnow of the Asian Football Confederation to a deserving part of the 32-team finals, that miracle was revealed as false hope after Qatar fell 2-0 to Senegal on Friday to become the first team eliminated from the competition if the Dutch win or draw against Ecuador later today.

Iran defeats Wales with two stoppage time goals to throw group B in total chaos

The Iran national team proved to the world the talent it possesses with an incredible 2-0 victory vs. Wales on Friday. Iran’s goals came in the 99th and 101st minutes after dominating the Dragons all game.

The Wales national team looked atrocious, disjointed and unlike themselves as they were completely outplayed against Iran. Iran hit both posts in the game, forced great saves out of Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey (who was shown a red card in the 86th minute) and found the win at the end.

Watch: Richarlison goal is one of the best you will ever see

Richarlison, take a bow. There are few words that could possibly do this goal justice. After a difficult first half, Richarlison firmly stamped his name on the match with one of the all-time great World Cup goals.

“Samba Soccer at its absolute best,” according to Stu Holden. “That is Joga Bonito. That is the Beautiful game,” added Jon Strong.

Richarlison, in his first World Cup appearance for Brazil, scored his second goal of the match with a beautiful overhead kick that will live forever, and deservedly so.
