During a match between Altos and River in Brazil’s Campeonato Piauiense, the league of the state of Piauí, Altos’ Humberto was clocked by River’s Biro Biro with a high boot to the face.

Thankfully, medical tests ruled out a fracture, but Humberto did suffer a concussion and is still under observation following Sunday’s incident. The Brazilian midfielder says he has no recollection of the event itself, but he returned to the pitch after the match looking like Quasimodo.  

Manchester United and Liverpool played to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday with the main talking point being the four first half injury substitutions (three for United, one for Liverpool) that drastically altered the shape of the game.

In the grand scheme of things, the draw sees Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League table with a one-point lead over Manchester City. After Arsenal’s victory over Southampton, the Gunners have overtaken the Red Devils in fourth by a single point.

Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani left the pitch moments after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against Bordeaux on Saturday. An Edinson Cavani injury is the last thing the club needs right now. 

PSG travels to England to face Manchester United in first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday. 

On Wednesday, FC Barcelona will host Real Madrid in a Copa del Rey semifinal first leg at the Camp Nou. This will be the 239th competitive meeting of the sides — and the 34th in the Copa — but it’s one that many feared Lionel Messi would miss. The Barça captain suffered a thigh injury during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Valencia, and he only just returned to training today.

You’ve heard this before: A broken foot is threatening to prematurely end Neymar’s club season, and he could be facing a race for fitness ahead of a major international tournament. 

Last season, Neymar sustained a crack to the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during a match against Marseille on Feb. 25. The injury was worse than first expected, required surgery and Neymar missed PSG’s Champions League Round of 16 return leg against Real Madrid before sitting out the rest of the season. 

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano had a great start to PSV Eindhoven’s 2-1 win over Groningen on Saturday. He had a finish he’ll want to forget — if he can even remember it at all.

Lozano was vital to helping PSV remain ahead of Ajax in the race for the Eredivisie standings. He scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes as the Boeren moved five points clear of Ajax, which plays rival Feyenoord in De Klassieker on Sunday. 

A lot of people don’t like Neymar. 

I get that — he went overboard with the theatrics at last summer’s World Cup.

But what Strasbourg's Anthony Gonçalves said after yet another Neymar injury crosses the line more than any Neymar dive. It’s dangerous territory, something that reflects a societal issue as well.
