She’s an attorney with degrees from the Naval Academy, University of Liverpool and University of Houston’s law school. The lifetime Girl Scout has received many military medals after serving two tours in Iraq and started a program with the Dash to honor female veterans and servicemembers. She’s a mother.

According to one failed politician, however, Haley Carter has no right to be the Grand Marshal of a local Independence Day parade.

Two days before the 50-year anniversary of Title IX, the KC Current of the NWSL unveiled one of the most inspiring investments in professional women’s sports in America. The $18 million KC Current training facility opened on Tuesday is the first such complex built specifically for an NWSL team. It’s incredible, and the players couldn’t believe their eyes.

For all her talk off the field, Megan Rapinoe usually lets her play do the talking on the pitch. Except on Saturday night during NWSL After Dark. The OL Reign beat Angel City 1-0 at Lumen Field, but not before the first Megan Rapinoe red card of her career.

Tobin Heath is returning to the NWSL after a near three-year hiatus and will team up with USWNT teammates Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle at OL Reign, according to The Equalizer.

Heath has spent the past two years playing in the FA Women’s Super League, spending one year with Manchester United and one with Arsenal. 

Christen Press is crestfallen. Rounding into superb form after taking time off for her mental health, the Angel City star limped off the field on Sunday. A day later, she confirmed everyone’s worst fears: The Christen Press injury is an ACL tear, and she’ll miss the rest of the season.

Press is requesting dog photos to cheer her up.

Last summer, Olivia Moultrie set the record as the youngest player in NWSL history, making her Portland Thorns debut at the tender age of 15. Before she could even legally drive, Moultrie was starting — and making an impact — in the world’s toughest league. On Sunday night, Moultrie became the NWSL youngest goal scorer in a 4-0 romp over the Houston Dash.
