Forest Green Rovers have long been an example for other clubs to follow for being the most environmentally conscious club in the world. Now they’re making waves on the pitch, too.

The world’s greenest football club earned promotion to EFL League One for the first time ever thanks to a 0-0 draw with Bristol Rovers on Saturday. The Rovers currently lead EFL League Two with 83 points, and Saturday’s point was enough to clinch a top-three place and promotion to League One. 

WASHINGTON — After more than 40 years of sour relations and months of struggle to restore a nuclear deal, the United States and Iran are now set to meet on the soccer field at this year's World Cup, having landed together in Group B in Friday's draw.

The Iran and U.S. coaches sidestepped the political fracas, saying they were focused on the tournament and its ability to bring people together. England and the winners of a European playoff - Ukraine, Scotland or Wales - complete the group.

DOHA — FIFA officials will look to put aside division and controversy and turn the focus to this year's World Cup finals when they hold their annual congress in the Qatari capital on Thursday.

For the past year, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been under fire from critics, particularly in Europe, over his proposals to turn the World Cup from an event held every four years to a biennial tournament.

The Orlando Pride are, by their very name, a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community. Many of the Pride’s most prominent players have been gay, and Exploria Stadium includes 49 rainbow-colored seats as a memorial to the victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub mass shooting. But apparently, the word “gay” is too political for the team.
