After watching USWNT struggles, noticeable percentage of bettors back Portugal for big payout

The United States women's national team is still heavily favored to move on to the knockout rounds, but a small chink in the armor of the two-time defending Women's World Cup champions has caused a ripple effect at sportsbooks.

The USWNT needs to earn at least a point against Portugal at Auckland, New Zealand, early Tuesday (3 a.m. ET) to guarantee it advances out of Group E.

PSV hosted second division side FC Eindhoven on Wednesday in a derby preseason friendly, and 20-year-old American striker Ricardo Pepi was on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory, giving him two goals in two appearances since arriving from FC Augsburg on a five-year deal.

It was an emphatic finish from the Texan as he swept a right-footed effort inside the far post.

Watch all of Sergio Busquets’ best touches and passes in his Inter Miami debut

Friday night’s Leagues Cup match between Inter Miami and Cruz Azul was a historical moment for soccer in the United States as Lionel Messi made his amazing debut.

Lack of scoring continues to plague England in 1-0 win vs. Haiti

BRISBANE — England coach Sarina Wiegman says her squad are missing the ruthlessness needed to score goals, a troubling tendency that reared its ugly head in a 1-0 victory over minnows Haiti at the Women's World Cup on Saturday.

Georgia Stanway's penalty kick was the game's only goal, stretching the Lionesses' lack of a goal from open play to more than three games.

Here’s how far each team will travel during 2023 Women’s World Cup, one team is over 5,000 miles

The 2023 Women’s World Cup kicks off Thursday in Australia and New Zealand and teams/fans are geared up for the travel.

Soccer fans might remember last year’s men’s tournament in Qatar where the furthest distance between two stadiums was 35 miles. That is no longer the case for Australia and New Zealand where travel will be a major factor.

Perth, Australia, and Hamilton, New Zealand, are the two furthest host cities sitting 3,333 miles apart.

Bayern Munich score four touchdowns during friendly match that ended 27-0

If you’ve ever been curious about what happens when a top-tier club faces a team from the ninth tier, look no further. Bayern Munich obliterated minnows FC Rottach-Egern 27-0 on Tuesday during a friendly.

That score line looks more appropriate for a random college football game between Iowa and Nevada than it does for a soccer game.

FC Rottach-Egern are the local team near Bayern’s summer training camp and have faced the Bundesliga champs three times now. Each contest ends with Bayern scoring 20+ goals.

Women's World Cup odds: Is there any hope outside of USA or England?

With an expanded 32-team tournament and matches across Australia and New Zealand, the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup (beginning with a crowd of over 100,000 for the Matildas opener against Ireland) is going to be the best in the competition's 32-year history.

The USWNT is favored for a three-peat but that's never been done before, and there will be fierce competition from European champions England, two-time world champs Germany and teams looking to take the next step like France and Spain.

League play has come to a halt but watching Matchday 26, you’d never be able to tell. With the All-Star Game around the corner and the highly advertised Leagues Cup set to kick off in less than a week, teams were still in high gear across the league.
