Chivas Guadalajara is going to have a new look come the FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, and we’re not talking about the absence of the man who led the team to the Concacaf Champions League title (Matías Almeyda was actually named head coach of the San Jose Earthquakes on Monday). According to the latest leaks, Chivas will debut a new jersey for its December quarterfinal matchup against the AFC Champions League winner (one of Kashima Antlers, Suwon Bluewings, Al-Sadd or Persepolis).

As we previously covered and you’ve undoubtedly discovered yourself, the 2018-19 Champions League features an Adidas match ball that’s decidedly bolder in its iconic “starball” design. The white stars imposed alongside blue panels certainly make it more visible on the pitch, especially when play is slowed down or when players are lining up during set piece situations. 

Shortly after capturing The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 award with 29.05 percent of the vote, Nike honored Croatia and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric with the Mercurial Vapor PE “Modric” boot. As the Nike press release detailed, “the boot’s full multi-chrome upper shines with an iridescent finish.” These are some gaudy boots.

In honor of Formula One driver Ayrton Senna — who was born in São Paulo, supported Corinthians and won three F1 world championships before dying in an accident at the ’94 San Marino Grand Prix — the Brazilian club has launched a third jersey which is stylistically based on black and gold car that Senna used while driving with the Lotus race team.

In lieu of a sponsor, the kit features Senna’s signature and 41 golden lines which represent the total number of Grand Prix victories that the driver recorded throughout his career. The result is absolutely stunning.

The collaboration between Paris Saint-Germain and the Jordan Brand drops tomorrow (Sept. 14), and we now have our first official glimpse at the entire collection. The offerings include two special edition kits that will be worn by PSG exclusively in the Champions League, a couple Air Jordan sneakers, Phantom and Mercurial boots with Jumpman and Swoosh branding and the entire gambit of lifestyle clothing (jackets, shorts, tees, parkas, pants, etc.).  

While Barcelona will return to classic thin Blaugrana stripes on its home shirt this season, the club’s away jerseys and rumored third kits are much more bold. 

The away is confirmed, and it’s “volt” (a sort of light green/yellow) with a bit of blue and red on the cuffs. However, it’s the third shirt that’s got tongues wagging across the planet. 

Napoli’s biggest worry, at the moment, is president Aurelio De Laurentiis’s claim that manager Maurizio Sarri is attempting to take all of his former players with him to Chelsea. Jorginho has absconded for $67 million, but the rest of the squad appears to be staying in Naples.
