Don't Panic: Vlatko says best surely coming soon from USWNT

WELLINGTON - The United States have yet to produce their best performance at the Women's World Cup, coach Vlatko Andonovski said on Thursday, after the Netherlands held them to a frustrating 1-1 draw in their second match of the tournament in Wellington.

Co-captain Lindsey Horan powered a terrific header into the net to level the affair in the second half and save the four-times champions from outright embarrassment after not putting up much of a fight early on in the match.

Netherlands’ women’s head coach Andries Jonker asked “what is left of the USWNT’s superiority” in soccer prior to his side’s 1-1 draw with the U.S on Thursday (Wednesday in the States).

It was an incredibly bold statement from Jonker who then failed to beat the team he said had lost its superiority.

Few would argue that Inter Miami’s high-profile midseason acquisitions have brought Major League Soccer to a level of notoriety that it has never seen before. Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets were always going to bring new fans to DRV PNK Stadium, but Tuesday’s crowd will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. 

Following Messi’s substitution late in the match, videos showed many fans in the crowd leaving their seats and heading home for the night.

At the end of the day, it's all about Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba (maybe Luis Suarez) turning around Inter Miami's season with 12 matches remaining and getting them from dead last in MLS to the playoffs. 

In the meantime, they might just win the Leagues Cup.

The Leagues Cup is off to an interesting start, and while one side of the binational tournament has seen things like Messi scoring an incredible last-minute free kick winner in one of the most watched games of the year, the other side has the Concacaf Champions League champions stuck sleeping in a Canadian airport for a game in the United States to be played the night after. 

Shaka Hislop collapses on live TV before Real Madrid vs. AC Milan friendly

ESPN FC commentator Shaka Hislop collapsed on live television directly before Real Madrid and AC Milan were scheduled to kick off at the Rose Bowl on Sunday night.

Hislop was previewing the match alongside Dan Thomas when, in the middle of a discussion on Christian Pulisic, he collapsed to the ground near the pitch. Thomas immediately called for aid and help rushed over.
