New USL Super League will rival NWSL and announces eight cities that will get teams in 2024

The National Women’s Soccer League could no longer be the sole top tier women’s league in the U.S. starting in August 2024. That’s because the new USL Super League announced on Tuesday its plans to become a Division 1 league on par with NWSL.

Eight cities will get teams for the inaugural season which spans from August 2024 through June 2025 (with a winter break in the middle). If all goes to plan, then five more cities will get teams for the following season.

Here are the cities receiving teams.

Sam Kerr delivers Women's FA Cup to Chelsea in front of over 77,000 at Wembley

In front of a record crowd of 77,390 at Wembley, Chelsea lifted the Women's FA Cup for the third successive time after Sam Kerr's goal in the 68th-minute gave the Blues a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

The Red Devils, in their fifth year of existence, are left chasing their first major piece of silverware, and it's Kerr who crushed their dreams on Sunday and who's also put United to the sword in league play (scoring in both WSL fixtures between the sides this season).

Lynn Williams’ insane form for Gotham FC should earn her a spot on USWNT World Cup roster

No one envies the job that U.S. women’s national team head coach Vlatko Andonovski has right now in trying to whittle down his roster to 23 for the World Cup. He will have many tough decisions to make, however one choice that shouldn’t be hard is including Lynn Williams.

The 29-year-old missed nearly all the last NWSL season with a hamstring injury she picked up in March 2022. In the offseason she made a move to Gotham FC and she’s off to an electric start to the 2023 campaign.

When two teams are so evenly matched, the old cliché dictates that an individual piece of genius or a horrendous mistake will ultimately decide the outcome.

For Arsenal and Wolfsburg — with the score level at 4-4 on aggregate after nearly 190 minutes of action across the two legs — it was the unfortunate error that ultimately decided the tie.
