COPENHAGEN, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Manchester United gave up a two-goal lead in a breathless 4-3 Champions League loss to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday that turned after Marcus Rashford was shown a red card following a brace by young United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The loss was a calamitous setback in United's hopes for last-16 qualification with Erik ten Hag's side fourth in Group A on three points with two group games still to play.

The year of Marcus Rashford continued Thursday as the Manchester United forward scored the lone goal against Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarín, giving the Red Devils a 5-1 aggregate victory and easy passage to the Europa League quarterfinals.

Before the World Cup, Rashford had a total of eight goals in 19 appearances across all competitions. Since the tournament in Qatar, the 25-year-old has found the back of the net 18 times in 24 games. After drawing 2-2 last Wednesday at Old Trafford, Manchester United and Leeds did it all again at Elland Road on Sunday with the Red Devils coming away victorious, 2-0, thanks to late goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. 

Days after the sacking of manager Jesse Marsch, relegation-threatened Leeds have gone into Old Trafford and drawn title-challenging Manchester United 2-2 with a midfield duo of Tyler Adams-Weston McKennie and a three-headed coaching monster including the American Chris Armas (mockingly referred to as "Ted Lasso" during his stint as assistant at Man Utd) and a guy who recently managed England's futsal team.

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji said Marcus Rashford was clearly interfering with play in the lead-up to Manchester United's equalizer in their Premier League match on Saturday.

City defenders tracked Rashford's run from an offside position as he chased the ball for 30 yards before Bruno Fernandes stepped in at the last second to score.

The linesman raised his flag for offside but referee Stuart Attwell awarded the goal, allowing United to mount a comeback and win 2-1.
