American football is one of the most watched sports in the United States, but domestic soccer — the world’s football — usually falls by the wayside.

Out of all the soccer leagues across the pond, the English Premier League is the most popular in the U.S., while the NFL is facing a somewhat uncertain time.

The 2019-20 season, like all things in 2020, proved to be different. Viewership for both of these professional leagues was turned on its head. So what is the average EPL vs. NFL viewership?

So the 2019-20 season was a mess, we all know that. On top of everything else that had been cancelled or postponed, we added the Tokyo Olympics to that list. Once upon a time, they were set to take off July 24, 2020. 

Why is this so important, you ask? Well, that was supposed to be the date the USWNT returned to play. With the Games now being postponed until July 2021, we have a while before these badass ladies return to the pitch.

It was, without doubt, the most earthshattering sports moment of 2020. It didn’t happen on the pitch, but via an anachronistic piece of equipment long since forgotten. Lionel Messi informed Barcelona of his intention to leave the club via a fateful fax last week. The memo immediately became one of the most stunning faxes in sports history, but was it the most shocking of all time?

"He was what I called a ball-playing defender," long-time friend Dave Bassett said of Sam Allardyce, "If he wasn't playing with the ball he was playing with your balls."

Allardyce was a feared center back during his 20-plus years in English football due to his propensity to clatter opposing strikers and leave them moaning in pain on the turf. He was even given the nickname "Super Sam Bionic Man" for his ability to quickly ascend from these tackles and continue playing. 

I’ll admit, I quite enjoyed watched the end of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League thanks to CBS All Access making them easy to view (if not a bit expensive given the monthly fee). I’m sure I wasn’t the only one, as NWSL fans may have kept their All Access subs for the Champions League. And now I’m sure many Americans are wondering how to watch WSL in the U.S. for the 2020-21 season.

Soccer players from the United States playing in Europe’s top leagues are a rarity. For those wondering how many Americans have played in Serie A, the number is miniscule.
