DORTMUND — Borussia Dortmund's Anthony Modeste headed in a last-gasp equalizer to complete a sensational two-goal comeback and snatch a 2-2 draw against visitors Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga's Der Klassiker on Saturday.

Modeste, under massive criticism after having netted just once in the league following his arrival this season to replace ailing Sebastien Haller, headed in at the far post with the last touch of the game after also setting up their first goal, to rescue a point for his team and keep Bayern off top spot.

Seven match weeks into the Bundesliga season, Union Berlin is top of the table — two points clear of Borussia Dortmund and five of Bayern Munich — with a 26-year-old American leading the charge.

On Sunday, he scored again — his third (to go with two assists) in six appearances — in Union's 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg. This one was a perfectly timed near post run to get in front of his marker and glance a header inside the opposite post.

Bayern Munich suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Augsburg on Saturday, but the Bavarians nearly pulled out a late equalizer from a Manuel Neuer header. Only the goal-line save from the other keeper, Rafal Gikiewicz, kept Augsburg in front in the 95th minute. 

COLOGNE, Germany - Union Berlin moved to the top of the Bundesliga standings for the first time in the German club's history after they came away from Cologne with a 1-0 win on Sunday thanks to an own goal early in the game.

In a whirlwind opening to the match, Union were fortunate to take the lead in the third minute when Cologne defender Timo Hübers' attempted block on a low cross was deflected past his goalkeeper at the near post.

A 17-year-old player, in many cases, is signed as a future prospect who will slowly make his way into regularly playing for the first team.
