There was no 42-pass team goal, but compared to today’s Manchester derby at the Etihad, the Boca Juniors-River Plate Copa Libertadores final seemed like it was being played on another planet entirely.

We’re not gonna lie: We were really looking forward to watching Saturday’s Copa Libertadores final first leg between Buenos Aires rivals River Plate and Boca Juniors. But once you see these images, you’ll completely understand why the Superclásico matchup was postponed, with the Copa Libertadores makeup date scheduled for Sunday. 

Last we saw the Panama women's soccer team, Yenith Bailey was doing everything she could to try to get the tiny Central American nation to its first ever women’s World Cup. Panama fell just short, finishing fourth place in the Concacaf Women’s Championship, missing out on the final automatic berth.

The prophecy has come true, Boca Juniors and River Plate will play in the Copa Libertadores final.

Oh boy, this is the ultimate soccer apocalypse. 

Over 100 years of ferocious rivalry meets in what the entire country highlights as the most important Superclásico of all time. Yes, that’s right, if you thought Barcelona–Real Madrid was the Clásico, this is the Superclásico: a reloaded, on steroids, bad mood version of a civilized European rivalry. 

Last Sunday, Brazilian club Corinthians honored the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting by wearing the names of the 11 victims on its jerseys during a Brasileirão match against Botafogo.
