10-man Arsenal suffer last-minute equalizer to Manchester City in match-of-the-season contender

MANCHESTER, England, Sept 22 (Reuters) - John Stones scored deep in injury time as Manchester City salvaged a 2-2 draw with 10-man Arsenal on Sunday to remain top of the Premier League table after a rip-roaring battle against their bitter title rivals.

The draw in what was more of a slugfest than a chess match left Pep Guardiola's men with 13 points after five matches, while Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are fourth with 11.

BERGAMO — Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya secured his side a hard-earned point with a sensational penalty save in a 0-0 draw away to Atalanta in their Champions League opener on Thursday.

Spaniard Raya dived low to his right to beat out Mateo Retegui's spot kick in the 51st minute then sprang across his goal to claw away the forward's follow up header.

Former Arsenal and Ipswich Town forward Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been charged after he was arrested by Scotland's National Crime Agency (NCA) in connection with the seizure 132 pounds of cannabis worth $793,620 at Stansted Airport.

The 33-year-old, who now plays for Scottish second division side Greenock Morton, was detained by NCA officers on Wednesday in an operation supported by Police Scotland.

Rodri warns that players could go on strike over congested schedule

MANCHESTER — Players could be close to strike action over the amount of games they are required to play, Manchester City midfielder Rodri warned on Tuesday on the eve of their Champions League opener against Inter Milan.

Expanded Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup formats, alongside enlarged national team competitions, has made for a greater number of games for top teams and players, and Rodri is the latest to say the workload is too great.

Brady provided color commentary for Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints game and then flew across the pond to be present for the Birmingham vs. Wrexham contest on Monday.

While Brady has been given a warm welcome to the broadcast booth for NFL games, he was jeered heavily by the traveling Wrexham faithful at St. Andrew’s.

Wrexham fans could be heard yelling “who the f*cking hell are you?” as Brady made his way around the grounds.

BIRMINGHAM, England, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Jhon Duran scored a brilliant long-range winner as Aston Villa came from two goals down to beat Everton 3-2 in a hugely entertaining Premier League clash on Saturday, as striker Ollie Watkins opened his account for the season with a brace.

Everton led against the run of play inside the first 27 minutes through goals from Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but their defensive frailties that have seen them concede 13 goals in four games this campaign returned.

FA charges Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur for racist comment about teammate Son

The Football Association have charged Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur after the Uruguayan made a racist remark about South Korean people when talking about his teammate Son Heung-min during a television appearance.

Bentancur, 27, has until Sept. 19 to respond to the charge.
