Throwback Thursday: Nike's "The Mission" Commercial

Alright, I’m gonna reboot our Throwback Thursday here with a fresh spin on it and see how it goes. If you like it, great, if you hate it, great, it’ll be no more.

Today we’re on a blast from the past with a Nike soccer commercial you guys are hopefully familiar with. It’s one of my top favorites out there, "The Mission" commercial:

Chicharito Dresses Up Like Screech From ‘Saved By The Bell’ To Meet LeBron James

Javier Hernández is living the American dream in Los Angeles. The new LA Galaxy star has been yucking it up since moving to Hollywood from Sevilla for $9.4 million in January.

It’s clear Chicharito has fully embraced the LA lifestyle after his appearance in the most wonderful of shirts (wait for it) at the Staples Center on Tuesday night.

Frankfurt Protest Monday Games With One Banner And No Fans

Sometimes simplicity is the best approach, and that is the route that Eintracht chose during a Frankfurt protest on the scheduling of Monday matches this week.

Sure, the supporters could have brought in 100 flares, made several large banners and yelled their lungs out. Instead the Frankfurt faithful vacated a section of stands and placed a singular banner with one clear message: No Mondays.

South African Team Attempts To Waste Final 10 Minutes By Rotating Everyone Through Corner Kick Duty

With only 10 matches remaining in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League, the title race is being hotly contested between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. Kaizer Chiefs currently holds a four-point lead at the top of the division, and Sundowns obviously can’t allow that gap to grow any larger.

Last Wednesday, Sundowns went to extreme lengths of shithousery to ensure that didn’t happen when hosting Bloemfontein Celtic at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The World Is Your Oyster With These Life-Size Stat Cards

Oh christ, Valentine’s Day was weeks ago . . . did you completely forget about it up until this very moment? Is that the reason your significant other has been tirelessly working on a doll in your image, driving needles into it and reciting Necronomicon incantations under their breath? That could explain it.

Don’t worry, I’ve got just the thing to rekindle the old flame: FIFA Ultimate Team cards but in real life from CardsPlug (but obviously not marketed as FUT cards for legal reasons, I’d assume).

Håland Or Heisenberg? Like Bryan Cranston's Award-Winning Character, Håland Leaves Rivals Without An Answer

Erling Håland continued his red-hot start to life at Borussia Dortmund, scoring his 12th goal in eight matches in Dortmund's 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The 18 Best Mia Hamm Commercials Of All Time

At her height, Mia Hamm was one of the most popular athletes in the United States. Her goal scoring (and sometimes shot stopping) abilities were matched only by her charisma off the pitch, so it was no surprise countless companies flocked to the face of soccer in the U.S. for their own Mia Hamm commercials.

Club Brugge Trolls Manchester United On Twitter, Earns Europa League Draw

There are two arenas in which professional sports teams succeed: on the field and on social media. As Southampton showed earlier this season, it's possible to win online even after losing on the pitch. A master class Club Brugge tweet at Manchester United ahead of the two sides’ Europa League Round of 32 first leg bout once again showed the power of Twitter.

Tired Of Watching His Opponent Fake Injury, Ryan Babel Starts Rolling Around Too

After the tragedy of losing to Tottenham in last season’s Champions League semifinals was compounded by a heartbreaking exit during this year’s group stage, Ajax’s European odyssey has appropriately descended into comedy after being parachuted into the Europa League Round of 32.

Maradona Caught On Camera Receiving Suspicious Baggy During Match

Argentine legend Diego Maradona is fondly remembered for his amazing goals and off-the-wall personality. Sadly, Maradona’s legacy also includes a notorious history of drug use, and while managing his struggling club Gimnasia in a recent Primera División match, Maradona was handed a suspicious small bag.

The coaching staff was then quick to block the view of the camera.
