FOX begins Copa América coverage with delayed audio as Argentina defeat Canada 2-0

The Copa América kicked off with Argentina defeating Canada 2-0 on Thursday, however a FOX audio delay frustrated fans who tuned into FS1.

For the entire first half of the opening match commentators John Strong and Stu Holden were on a roughly two second delay. 

FOX has had audio issues in the past, but thankfully this time at least the audio was behind rather than two seconds ahead. There’s nothing worse than the commentators spoiling what you’re about to see.

Lionel Messi says Inter Miami will be his last club ahead of final Copa América with Argentina

Lionel Messi has hinted to his retirement as he shared with ESPN Argentina on Wednesday that Inter Miami will be the last club he plays for.

Messi will turn 37 on June 24 and will likely be playing in his final major international tournament with Argentina this summer in the Copa América. The 2022 World Cup winner hasn't set an official retirement date but said that Inter Miami will be his curtain call.

His contract with the Herons runs until the end of 2025.

Brazil and Palmeiras superstar Endrick caught fans’ attention with his goal celebration against Liverpool during Thursday’s Copa Libertadores match. The Endrick Kong celebration is already iconic.

The 17-year-old phenom’s goal and celebration started a small skirmish as he extended Palmeiras’ lead to 3-0 in the 82nd minute and pounded his chest after finding the back of the net.

Columbus Crew keep MLS’ Champions Cup hopes alive with leg one semifinal win vs. Monterrey

Jacen Russell-Rowe contributed the winning goal and an assist as the host Columbus Crew earned a 2-1 victory over Monterrey on Wednesday in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal series.

The two-leg series will conclude on May 1 in Mexico.

Russell-Rowe headed home the winner in the 72nd minute after setting up Cucho Hernandez's goal in the 25th minute. Monterrey had pulled level on a goal from Maximiliano Meza in the 58th minute.

Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman gets 11-game ban for pointing laser pointer at opposing players

Tigres UANL goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman has been banned for 11 matches by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) after aiming a laser pointer at Monterrey stopper Esteban Andrada during a LIGA MX match on Sunday.

In videos of the incident posted on social media, Guzman, who was injured and sitting in the stands, could be seen directing the laser pointer at the Monterrey players including Andrada in the match, which ended 3-3.

58-year-old Brazil legend Romario set to make his professional return 15 years after retiring

Retired Brazil striker Romario has registered as a player for America-RJ, the Rio de Janeiro state second division side the 58-year-old is now president of, and is set to make a return to the sport 15 years after he stopped playing.

Romario, who retired in 2008 and became America's sporting director in 2009, played for Brazil in two World Cups, scoring five goals to guide them to victory in 1994.

Wednesday’s second leg in Mexico was the most hostile environment Lionel Messi has played in since joining Inter Miami in the summer. Monterrey fans boo Messi every time he touches the ball and got the last laugh as their side cruised to victory.

Columbus Crew stun Tigres in Mexico and deny Liga MX a sweep of MLS teams in Champions Cup

Columbus goalie Patrick Schulte saved the first two attempts in a penalty shootout as the Crew advanced past Tigres UANL on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup at San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico.

Tigres grabbed an early lead on a goal from Gignac in the third minute. Schulte got caught in possession inside his own 6-yard box, and Gignac tapped the ball into the vacated goal.
