Klopp Called Playing Liverpool-Atlético Second Leg A ‘Criminal Act,’ According To Ancelotti

Defending champion Liverpool was knocked out of the Champions League on March 11, a misplayed Adrián pass tumbling into a 4-2 aggregate loss to Atlético Madrid following a 1-0 first-leg defeat. Reds coach Jurgen Klopp has reportedly called the playing of that second leg a “criminal act.”

Adrián Puts His Name Alongside Loris Karius In The Liverpool Hall Of Shame

Against all odds and wave after wave of pressure, Atlético has sent defending European champion Liverpool out of the Champions League, 4-2 on aggregate, but the Spanish side must largely thank Adrián for its magical night at Anfield.

The opening 90 minutes couldn’t have gone any better for Liverpool on Wednesday — apart from the lone Reds goal on the scoreboard. After promising to improve on zero shots on target back at the Wanda, Liverpool finished regular time with 28 attempts — nine on target — 71 percent possession and more than twice as many completed passes as Atlético.

Liverpool Fortune Returns In Nervy 2-1 Win Over Bournemouth

LIVERPOOL, England — Runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool resumed normal service with an unconvincing 2-1 victory over relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Saturday but they had to recover from an early jolt at Anfield.

Goals in quick succession by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane before halftime calmed the jitters after Callum Wilson had given Bournemouth a surprise ninth-minute lead.

It was far from vintage Liverpool, however, and they struggled to finish off a Bournemouth side who almost grabbed a late equaliser through Wilson.

Liverpool Dealt Another Blow: GK Alisson Ruled Out For Champions League Clash With Atlético

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss Saturday's home Premier League game against Bournemouth as well as their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid after suffering a hip injury this week, manager Juergen Klopp said on Friday.

The Brazilian was left out of the squad when Liverpool lost 2-0 at Chelsea in the FA Cup with Spaniard Adrian playing in goal instead and Klopp revealed he had injured his hip in training prior to Tuesday's game.

Ex-Liverpool Striker Daniel Sturridge Banned From All Soccer Until June

Former Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge has been suspended from all football-related activity until June 17 after he was found guilty of breaching betting rules, English football's governing body (FA) said on Monday.

Sturridge became a free agent earlier on Monday after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

He had been charged by the FA in July with 11 alleged breaches of its betting rules, nine of which were dismissed by an independent regulatory commission, and banned for six weeks — four of which were suspended.

The Schadenfreude On Display After Liverpool Loss Proof Misery Is England’s Greatest Export

Liverpool’s remarkable run is over. The Reds were run off the pitch by 19th-place Watford in a shocking 3-0 defeat on Saturday, ending a run of 44 Premier League matches unbeaten, spanning and incredible 422 days.

Liverpool fans had been living a dream for the past year and a half. Having won the Champions League in 2019, the Reds are running away to their first Premier League title ever, playing some of the most inspired football England has ever seen.

Liverpool's Perfect Season Dream Crushed By 19th-Place Watford

It had been 422 days since last Liverpool had lost a Premier League match. The Reds were thought to be infallible. Saturday’s Liverpool-Watford match proved otherwise.

Not only did Watford defeat Liverpool, it beat the hell out of the Reds at Vicarage Road. A spectator with no prior knowledge of the teams would have thought it was Watford on an 18-game winning streak and Liverpool winless in its last five.

The Hornets opened up the flood gates in the second half on the league leaders, courtesy of abysmal Liverpool defending on a throw-in.

Liverpool Stars Put Acting Chops To The Test

As part of a new advertising campaign between Liverpool and partners Chaokoh, some Reds first-teamers tried their hands at acting.

For the bit — "The Team Meting: Content Creative Session" — the Liverpool players were challenged to brainstorm ideas which could be used to market Chaokoh, a UK-based coconut milk/water brand. Andrew Robertson gets the ball rolling by confiding in teammate Curtis Jones that he's considering a career in music "if football doesn't work out."

Liverpool Maintains Course For Earliest Premier League Triumph Ever

They’re calling Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge a procession because that’s exactly what it is. For whatever reason, that’s come to be seen as a howl of despair from neutrals, as though Liverpool’s brilliance is setting off an ennui inside us all that can only be rectified by allowing offside goals scored against the Reds to stand.
