The Portland Timbers’ left-back Jorge Villafana is reportedly on his way to Liga MX club Santos Laguna for a transfer fee of just under $1 million. Villafana was a crucial part of the Timbers defense that led Portland to their first ever MLS Cup title.

While leading Portland in both appearances and minutes played throughout the course of the campaign, Villafana also chipped in with a goal and four assists from the fullback position.

Lucas Melano Messi-Like Goal Clinches Portland A Spot In MLS Final

He's not Messi, but this Lucas Melano Messi-like goal would make La Pulga proud. The fellow Argentine went beast mode en route to a ridiculous goal that sealed the Timbers spot in the MLS final. Melano received a pass cutting into the box and proceeded to fake out not only FC Dallas defender Matt Hedges, but also goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. The fake passes we're executed perfectly which gave Melano just enough room to flick home the golazo. We're starting to think that Melano should be getting more minutes, because he obviously has the potential to play like his countryman Lionel Messi.

Jermaine Jones: At Home Away From Home

Jermaine Jones played soccer in Germany, Turkey and England before he played in the country he represents as an international.

An old-school defensive midfielder for both the New England Revolution and the U.S. Men's National Team, Jones will knock you to the ground whenever he damn well pleases. He plays with an edge, and he might be on edge because he misses home.

Breaking: MLS Expansion Franchise Minnesota United FC Confirm New Stadium

It’s finally official: The state of hockey, 10,000 lakes and stereotypically mild-mannered behavior will now host the likes of Kaka, Clint Dempsey and Steven Gerrard. After months of speculation, MLS expansion franchise Minnesota United FC has a new home.

For Minnesotans, as well as interested bystanders, the final destination comes as something of a surprise. Saint Paul, generally used to playing second fiddle to fellow "Twin City” Minneapolis, has secured the deal.

Federico Higuain Is Out There Making MLS Look Awesome

Toronto FC clinched its spot in the MLS Cup playoffs when Sebastian Giovinco did this ridiculous thing to the East-leading New York Red Bulls.

But just a few days later the Columbus Crew came to town and Federico Higuaín (brother of Napoli and Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain) did this other ridiculous thing to Giovinco’s side.
