New York City FC lifted MLS Cup for the first time in the club’s six-year history on Saturday after tying Portland 1-1 and defeating the Timbers 4-2 on penalty kicks. The Timbers were heavy favorites heading into the final, but the traveling NYCFC supporters pulled out their secret weapon: the timbs.

One of the biggest talking points of the game was the horrific blown call in the final seconds during the build-up of Portland’s equalizer. NYCFC was seconds from lifting its first title when Larrys Mabiala clearly fouled Maxime Chanot. Felipe Mora then put home the equalizer.
