Twitter Is Letting Fans Operate A Sideline Camera During El Trafico

Always looking for new, weird ways to promote, self-promote and promote some more, Major League Soccer and Twitter are joining together to create one crazy marketing ploy for Friday night’s El Trafico between the LA Galaxy and LAFC.

Watch: 17-Year-Old Alphonso Davies Is Already A Bayern Munich Fanboy

Bayern Munich defeated Hoffenheim 3-1 in the Bundesliga season opener on Friday in Munich. It was a fairly typical Bundesliga match: Bayern had two goals called back for VAR and Thomas Müller did some very Thomas Müllery things. Then there was the Bayern penalty vs Hoffenheim, which was watched with great anxiety by Vancouver Whitecaps starlet Alphonso Davies.

The Austin MLS Club Gets A Name And Bold New Logo, Still Needs An Actual Team

Right now, Austin does not have an MLS team. It doesn’t yet have a stadium, any players, a coach or anything you might associate with a soccer club. It does, however, have a shield, a color scheme and a name. An Austin MLS logo was unveiled at a gathering of about 300 fans on Wednesday evening in Austin, an event attended by Columbus Crew owner Anthony Precourt.

MLS Finally Wins A Concacaf Champions League Title — At The U-13 Level

Major League Soccer has never won the Concacaf Champions League. D.C. United and the LA Galaxy each won the Concacaf Champions Cup, the tournament's precursor, but the league has had no luck in the current competition, which began play in 2008.

That Concacaf Champions League drought finally ended on Wednesday, kind of.

LAFC’s academy team won the U-13 Concacaf Champions League title on Wednesday, defeating Junior Tampicos of Mexico 2-0 in the final.

San Jose Earthquakes CB Guram Kashia Wins UEFA Award For Promoting Equality

San Jose Earthquakes central defender Guram Kashia was honored with the inaugural UEFA #EqualGame Award on Wednesday for his public stand for the LGBTQ community while with Dutch club SBV Vitesse last season.

Kashia, 31, wore a rainbow captain’s armband with Vitesse along with other captains in the Dutch top division. Unlike most of his fellow captains, Kashia faced harsh criticism, threats and abuse back home in his native Georgia. Nonetheless, he took a stand for equality, despite calls for him to step down from the national team.

Which Players Will David Beckham Bring To Miami As A Designated Player?

The wheels are in motion for David Beckham’s Miami MLS franchise. Last week we saw what could very well be the new logo for the team, and if that logo turns out to be true, we can expect an entry into MLS in 2020.

So, if that’s the case, then the speculation about potential Designated Players (DP for the cool kids) will be rife. Whether it’s a seasoned vet from a top European league or a young South American looking to prove himself, the rumor mill will no doubt be in overdrive.

Josef Martinez Ties MLS Goal Scoring Record With 9 Games Still To Play

Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez registered his 27th goal of the 2018 season on Sunday, drawing him level with Roy Lassiter (1996), Chris Wondolowski (2012) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (2016) for most goals ever scored in a single MLS season.

Broadcasting History Will Be Made Sunday With All-Female Cast For MLS Match

Fox will make history on Sunday. An all-female cast of three announcers will lead the broadcast in a top U.S. men’s sports league for the first time ever, according to FOX Sports.

Lisa Byington (play-by-play), Danielle Slaton (analyst) and Katie Witham (reporter/host) will join together to call the DC United vs. New England Revolution match on Sunday evening. The nationally televised game will air live on FS1 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

17-Year-Old Alphonso Davies Acted His Age At MLS All-Star Game And It Was Great

Alphonso Davies made his MLS All-Star Game debut a couple weeks ago. It’s likely to be his last, at least for a while, but it was a memorable one.

Wayne Rooney Produces Some More MLS Magic With Brace Against Portland

Like a certain fellow Washington D.C. resident might put it, Wayne Rooney is YUGE right now. This past weekend against Orlando, the former Manchester United man effectively broke the greater soccer world with one play. Rooney sprinted full speed — nearly half the length of the field — to track down a player, made a clean tackle and then hit a dime — nearly half the length of the field — to Luciano Acosta on the back post, who headed the ball home to give DC United the win in the 96th minute.
