Not all overhead kicks are created equal. The greatest differentiator has to be that moment of posterization — when the foot meets football at its absolute zenith and the body’s parallelism with the ground seems to foreshadow certain death. 

On one end of the scale there's the footballer who’s simply throwing their leg at the chance and falling over. The result is still a great goal, but the lasting effect isn’t much more powerful than watching a somersault. 

The NFL playing regular season games in London will always be weird to me. British fans were given a real treat on Sunday when they got to watch the frail Atlanta Falcons play the even weaker New York Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The one bright spot of the game was we found out what NFL team Christian Pulisic supports.

Taylor Twellman is one of the most polarizing voices in U.S. Soccer. His famous rant after the U.S. failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup is iconic and we got a small taste of that only minutes into the USMNT game vs. Jamaica. The Taylor Twellman VAR rant went down after Paul Arriola was dragged down by a Jamaica defender 20 seconds into the game.

The latest Landon Donovan Weston McKennie comments detail some of the frustrations felt by the former USMNT player watching this new era of the team. In an interview with The Athletic’s Jeff Rueter, Donovan spoke a little more about his take on the USMNT and one of its best players, McKennie.

Ahead of Sunday’s El Tráfico between the Los Angeles Galaxy and LAFC at Dignity Health Sports Park, the Galaxy revealed a statue of Landon Donovan outside the stadium to commemorate his contributions to the club, including four MLS Cups.

Season 2 of “Ted Lasso” has been building to a crescendo for a while now. Since Episode 208, the hits have kept coming. But the penultimate episode of the season, “Midnight Train To Royston,” felt a bit like a big tease. There were no real major plot revelations and the one new storyline felt forced and awkward. 

Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs said a name of a dog breed in a recent Sky Sports video that has sent me through the roof. The video features Nobbs and Rob Holding in a competition to see who can name more things relating to a certain topic.

It’s officially fall. While others may mark the end of summer via the return of pumpkin spice lattes or the autumnal equinox, real ones know fall doesn’t begin until the new edition of FIFA is released. With FIFA 22’s worldwide release today, I thought I’d share my early thoughts on the latest installment from EA Sports. I’ve been playing FIFA 22 on PS5 this week and have come away mostly impressed but occasionally baffled.
