The Future Of Chelsea FC Is Uncertain Following UK Sanctions On Owner Roman Abramovich

European soccer champions Chelsea are now effectively controlled by the British government after sanctions were imposed against Russian owner Roman Abramovich on Thursday.

Abramovich, who had been under scrutiny following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, had announced he was selling the Premier League club last week.

Dutch Prosecutors Will Charge Quincy Promes With Attempted Murder

AMSTERDAM — Dutch prosecutors intend to press attempted murder charges against Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes, they said on Wednesday, in order to ensure his case proceeds as quickly as possible.

Promes was arrested in connection with a July 2020 stabbing in the Dutch town of Abcoude. It later emerged that the alleged victim was Promes's cousin and the incident took place in a fight after a family party. Promes has denied involvement.

Every year 16 teams compete from February to May to decide the club champion of North America.

Ten teams will qualify based on league performance. 

4 clubs from the United States, 4 clubs from Mexico, 1 club from Canada, and 1 club from the Caribbean Club Championship

The top 6 teams from last year’s CONCACAF League will also qualify.

This in total rounds out the 16 teams for the tournament. 

Club América & Cruz Azul are the most successful clubs in the competition's history.

Parlow Cone won 785.12 of the total weighted vote at the Annual General Meeting while Cordeiro won 698.26.
