After a brilliant game that ended 1-1 (4-4 on aggregate) it went to a penalty shootout. Silva stepped up to take City’s second penalty and stunned fans when he shot it right up the middle into the grateful hands of Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Milan manager Stefano Pioli gave Pulisic a new role for the Lecce game as the USMNT forward started as a center attacking midfielder instead on his usual role at right wing. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Milan’s go-to No. 10, was out for the game through suspension.

Pulisic made an early impact in his new position opening the scoring in the sixth minute with a classy finish from the top of the box.

Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in AC Milan’s 3-1 victory against Slavia Praha in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday. Milan advanced to the quarterfinals 7-3 on aggregate with Pulisic scoring two of the goals in the tie.

The Pulisic goal vs Slavia Praha on Thursday came in the first half when Rafael Leão found the American open near top of the box. Pulisic was composed, evaded a defender and tucked away the finish into the bottom corner.

Vissel Kobe striker Yuya Osako provided a prime example of why you keep fighting and don’t get down on yourself.

In a J1 League match against FC Tokyo on Saturday the reigning league MVP started the game with a blooper for the ages. In the sixth minute Vissel Kobe were awarded a penalty kick and Osako stepped up to take the kick.

The 33-year-old scored 24 goals last season and looked poised to score his first of the season. Disaster struck on his run up as he slipped at the vital moment and missed the goal by a mile.

LONDON — Chelsea fought back to earn a point against Brentford in a 2-2 draw after defender Axel Disasi headed an 83rd-minute equalizer in the West London derby at the Brentford Community Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea took the lead with a clinical header by Nicolas Jackson in the 35th minute but Brentford looked on course for a comeback win after Mads Roerslev pounced on a loose ball in the Chelsea box in the opening minutes of the second half.
