The defending champion of Europe and LaLiga is about to begin another quest for dominance. The potential Real Madrid starting XI 2022-23 has more options and scenarios than manager Carlo Ancelotti has trophies.

Madrid said farewell to Marcelo, Isco and Gareth Bale this summer but picked up some reinforcements. This team also has a ludicrous number of talented midfielders. Ancelotti will have a tough time deciding his starters, but this is the lineup that’s most likely to feature next season.

Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suárez has re-joined Uruguayan team Nacional on a free transfer, returning to the Montevideo-based club after 16 years in Europe.

The 35-year-old, who left LaLiga side Atlético Madrid at the end of last season, said on social media on Tuesday he had reached a pre-contract agreement with Nacional, where he started his professional career in 2005.

"Proud to wear my shirt again at @Nacional," Suarez wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "Thank you all for the support! See you soon."

Real Madrid and Club América faced off for the fifth time in their history in yet another friendly match played in the United States this summer. Like in 2010, both teams gave us an entertaining match in the city of San Francisco, which, as a result of their recent performances, served as a game where they could bounce back from last weekend's losses.

This summer's Luis Suárez transfer saga has been all over the place, and reports now place the Uruguayan in MLS.

After two seasons at Atlético Madrid, Suárez became a free agent July 1 and it was time to look for a new club. Many suggested that a move back to South America would be ideal for the striker after a 16-year career abroad. However, with Qatar around the corner, Suárez preferred to remain in Europe to prepare for his last World Cup.

“My priority is to stay in Europe,” he said.

Real Madrid and Club América play a friendly on Tuesday, July 26 as part of the Soccer Champions Tour 2022. The game takes place in San Francisco and marks the second time they've squared off in this city through five total historical meetings. 

The first time they faced off in the Golden City was on Aug. 4, 2010. A friendly at the now extinct Candlestick Park saw the teams preparing for the 2010-11 season with perhaps the most entertaining match of their short rivalry.

Gerard Piqué was persona non grata Saturday night in El Clásico at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas with Real Madrid supporters naturally jeering him, Barcelona fans only too aware of the problems caused by his massive salary and neutrals showing their support for Shakira following her recent split with the Barça defender.

Barcelona put on a show Tuesday night against an obliging Inter Miami at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Gavi, Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembélé scoring in a 6-0 result, although the real story was surely Romeo Beckham's senior debut for dad's team.
