Safe Hands: Ranking All 24 Starting Goalkeepers At Euro 2020

The build-up to every major international tournament is the same: who has the best striker? Or, this is why x midfielder is going to dominate or why this winger is the key to this country getting out of its group.

But no one ever talks about the goalkeepers. In such a short tournament, where three matches decide a team's fate, the importance of the goalkeeper becomes magnified.

So let's give the goalkeepers the spotlight for a little bit, because often they're the ones that end up deciding the tournament.

Lionel Messi’s New Copa América Cleats Are Primed For Glory

Ahead of Argentina and Lionel Messi beginning 2021 Copa América play against Chile on June 14, adidas has launched the special edition cleats that Messi will wear throughout the tournament, dubbed “El Retorno” (“The Return”).

The name comes from Messi’s transition from the Nemeziz silo back to a boot — the X50 Speedflow — that takes it’s inspiration from the F30 cleats that he wore during Barcelona’s 2007 Copa del Rey run.

Big Changes (Might) Be Coming To Champions League Rules

With the 2021 Champions League Final between Manchester City and Chelsea on Saturday, this week has been full of conjecture over the future of the competition. While the Super League appears to have (mostly) died down, a few fairly major changes to Champions League rules could be on the cards, including away goals, substitutions and a “Final Four.”

Defiant Barcelona Refuses To Back Down From Super League

BARCELONA — Barcelona will not apologize for its role in creating the failed European Super League and will appeal against any punishment from UEFA, president Joan Laporta said on Friday.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are the last ones standing of the 12 clubs that signed up to the breakaway project in April, only for it to unravel when all six English sides plus Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid withdrew.

Unwilling To Rebuild, Zidane Leaves Real Madrid Again

Zinedine Zidane brought some success and stability back to a Real Madrid side that was in freefall without him but the Frenchman ultimately proved unwilling to preside over the squad rebuild the club felt it needed.

Zidane called time on his second spell in charge of the club on Thursday, leaving on his own terms as he did in 2018 after an unprecedented hat-trick of Champions League crowns and when he abruptly retired as a player in 2006.
