Barcelona must show they're better than Bayern, says Xavi

BARCELONA - Barcelona will be eager to show everyone that they are better than rivals Bayern Munich when the two teams face off in the Champions League on Wednesday, manager Xavi Hernández said.

Barcelona were beaten 2-0 by Bayern in last month's Group C fixture, a result that Xavi said was not a true reflection of the team's talent. But having won only one of their four matches in Europe this season, Xavi wants his team to show their true worth at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Rüdiger puts Real Madrid into last-16 by putting his head where it shouldn't be

It comes as no surprise but Real Madrid, for the 31st time in 31 editions of the competition, has reached the Champions League Round of 16 with two matches still to play.

Group F looked decidedly simple for Real alongside RB Leipzig, Celtic and Shakhtar Donetsk, but Shakhtar almost handed los Blancos their first defeat of the campaign Tuesday after Oleksandr Zubkov had given the "home" side a 46th-minute advantage in Warsaw, Poland.

Mbappé tells PSG he wants January exit and cuts lonely figure in Benfica draw

There was a time, with his contract willfully running down last season, when it looked like a Kylian Mbappé Real Madrid transfer was a foregone conclusion. The World Cup winner had already accomplished everything imaginable in French football at the age of 23 (five league titles, five cup triumphs and three Player of the Year awards), and the realization of Mbappé's childhood dream of playing at the Santiago Bernabéu was promised by Florentino Pérez himself.
