For those of you wondering when FIFA 21 will be released, you'll have to wait another few weeks. The game is available to play October 6 if you pre-order. The release was pushed back from its usual late-September unveiling. Adding insult to injury, there will also be no demo this year.

Every September in recent memory, soccer fans have been given the opportunity to download a demo for the latest FIFA game to get a sneak peek at the game they’ll pour hours into throughout the year. This year is different. So where is the FIFA 21 demo?

Usually, EA Sports releases a FIFA demo about three weeks before the launch of the full title. FIFA 21 is set to have a full release on Oct. 9 (it’s available earlier if you wanna pay extra). By that math, the FIFA 21 demo should have arrived by now.

Every year, a lot is made of the new FIFA ratings. Most of the focus is on the men’s players, with FUT becoming a cash cow for EA Sports. But taking one look at the FIFA 21 women's ratings makes it clear no one at EA watches much women’s soccer. Even the top-rated player agrees she’s not the best right now.

Until our top thinkers figure out how to break our current understanding of physics and develop time travel, the only real way to go visit the past is through music. Listen to an old album and you’ll immediately be transported back to when you first heard the music.

In this way, FIFA has always been my barometer for the passage of time, having been playing the series regularly for over 20 years. 

For about 10 years now, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been, by far, the two best men’s footballers on the planet. I would argue they’re the two most talented players in the history of the game given how they’ve dominated in the world’s toughest leagues for such a prolonged period of time.

And yet, EA Sports’ FIFA ratings don’t reflect just how legendary these two players are. And we’re pretty sure we know why.
