Barcelona Breaks World Transfer Fee Record For Man City, England Midfielder

England international midfielder Keira Walsh joined Spanish side Barcelona from Manchester City, the Women's Super League club said on Wednesday, with British media reporting the deal was for a world-record fee of around 350,000 pounds ($401,170).

The previous world record women's transfer stood at a fee in excess of 250,000 pounds, which Chelsea had paid in 2020 to sign Denmark's Pernille Harder from VfL Wolfsburg.

Megan Rapinoe Shows Exactly Why She Still Has A Big Role To Play For The USWNT

Megan Rapinoe is no longer a starter for the USWNT. Mallory Pugh has made the left flank her own, and it was the 24-year-old Chicago Red Stars forward who forced the opener on Tuesday night against Nigeria at Audi Field with a low cross that resulted in an own goal from the Super Falcons.

However, after Nigeria had surprisingly found an equalizer in the 50th minute through Tigres forward Uchenna Kanu, it was Rapinoe's introduction in the 65th that brought the crowd back to life before her quality in the final third restored the USWNT's advantage just one minute later.

UCLA Takes Down Nation's Top 2 Teams Behind Scoring Feats Of 19-Year-Old Reilyn Turner

Heading into this week, UCLA held the No. 3 ranking in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer but faced a daunting East Coast trip to play No. 2 Duke on Thursday and No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon. Well, get ready for a new No. 1 across the land because UCLA won both of them.

On Thursday, it was junior forward Reilyn Turner who earned a penalty for UCLA's first and then scored the all-important second in her team's 2-1 victory at the Blue Devils.

Lindsey Horan Sits Down Defender With Filthy Goal During USWNT’s 4-0 Win vs. Nigeria

The United States women’s national team took care of business with a 4-0 victory vs. Nigeria on Saturday during an international friendly in Kansas City.

This was the first game for the USWNT since the team won the Concacaf Women’s Championship in Mexico in July. The U.S. defeated Canada 1-0 in the final.

Alex Morgan Calls Out Boys Club In NWSL Ownership: ‘Pathetic’

Alex Morgan is once again calling out the nonsensical boys club that exists in the NWSL. Portland Thorns owner Merritt Paulson is once again being called out for failing to do the right thing.

San Diego Wave Prepares To Smash NWSL Attendance Record With Sell-Out Crowd

A record National Women's Soccer League crowd is expected to be on hand Sept. 17 when the San Diego Wave host Angel City FC in a battle of expansion teams.

The Wave said more than 32,000 tickets have been sold for the game, which will be the team's first at the new Snapdragon Stadium. The venue will host its first sporting event on Saturday when San Diego State's football team plays Arizona.

The NWSL attendance record of 25,218 was set in 2019 at Providence Park in Portland when the Thorns hosted the North Carolina Courage.

NWSL Fans Left Baffled As Ref Rewards A Goal With A Corner Kick

While play in the National Women’s Soccer League is some of the best in the world (I’d argue it’s the best league top to bottom), we have to be honest and admit one thing is clearly holding the NWSL back: officiating. The NWSL has far too many mistakes by its referees, made all the worse by the fact there is no VAR (for now).

Gotham FC was the victim of a particularly horrible piece of officiating against Angel City on Sunday, as if the New York/New Jersey club needed any more bad luck this season.

Brazilian Players Celebrating For Japanese Golden Ball Winner Is Most Wholesome Thing You’ll See Today

Spain beat Japan 3-1 to claim the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup crown in front of 29,891 fans on Sunday night in Costa Rica. Spain was superb and a deserved winner led by Golden Boot winner Inma Gabarro, whose eight goals were double the next highest scorer. But arguably the most memorable moment of the night came after the match as awards were given out and Japan’s Maika Hamano was awarded the Golden Ball (Gabarro took silver).

FIFA's 11-Day Ban Of India Has Disastrous Consequences For Women's Team At Asian Championship

BENGALURU - India's soccer fraternity breathed a sigh of relief as FIFA lifted the suspension imposed on it after 11 days, but the decision came too late for Gokulam Kerala FC whose hopes of playing at the AFC Women's Club Championship were shattered.

FIFA suspended the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Aug. 15 for undue third-party influence leading to Gokulam Kerala being banned from the club championship — a pilot tournament before the launch of the AFC Women's Champions League in 2024.

Retired England Striker White Says She Suffered ‘Traumatic’ Lung Puncture During Acupuncture

On Monday, Ellen White announced her retirement from football. The decision was somewhat surprising from the 33-year-old Manchester City striker who had just won the European championship with England. At least, it was surprising until she detailed to BBC a harrowing experience with a punctured lung suffered during acupuncture treatment last year.
