Harry Kane’s Disallowed Goal Will Make Your Blood Boil

Let me just get this out of the way first: I love the VAR. I think video replay is a necessary addition to soccer and greatly improves the accuracy of match-changing calls. But that Harry Kane disallowed goal on Thursday was BS, even if the VAR technically got it right.

The moment in question came in the 33rd minute of Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat at Sheffield United. The Blades had gone ahead less than two minutes earlier through Sander Berge, but Spurs thought they had found a quickfire response.

CAF Postpones Africa Cup Of Nations After Completely Canceling African Women’s Championship

CAPE TOWN — Next January's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon has been postponed by one year and will now take place in 2022, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 health crisis has suspended football across most of the continent since March and left little time to complete the qualification competition, said CAF president Ahmad Ahmad at a news conference.

The Cup of Nations was due to be held from Jan. 9-Feb. 6 next year but will now be scheduled for January 2022.

Leeds United Removes Osama Bin Laden Cardboard Cutout From Stands

Leeds United has removed a cardboard cutout of former al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden from the stands at Elland Road after it was spotted in a photo posted on Twitter, British media have reported.

With no spectators allowed into stadiums as part of efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, many English clubs are giving fans the chance to send in photos and have cutouts put on the seats instead.

Apparently Cristiano Ronaldo Is Only The 6th Most Famous Aquarius, Who Possibly Has Him Beat?

Ah yes, astrology. That one pseudoscience where people base their actions off of events and energies they can’t see and a common excuse high schoolers use when they don’t want to do something.

“Sorry for not watching your cat like I promised, but Mercury was in retrograde and it would have been a bad move on my part to go over and let Mittens out,” is a sentence that has probably been uttered once.

Watch A Turkish Club President Run Onto The Field And Start Swinging

A heated Turkish Super Lig match between title contender Trabzonspor and sixth-place Alanyaspor ended in blows between the clubs’ staffs after the final whistle.

It was an intense and important match. A win for Trabzonspor would have put the club tied on points for first in the league with İstanbul Başakşehir. Two red cards were shown during the match — one for each side — and Trabzonspor took the lead twice, but Alanyaspor leveled the score both times. Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cissé scored Alanyaspor’s first goal and gave a powerful celebration.

Burnley Players Ashamed And Embarrassed By ‘White Lives Matter’ Flyover Banner

A plane carrying a banner declaring “White Lives Matter Burnley” flew over Manchester City's Etihad Stadium on Monday at the start of the Premier League game against Burnley.

The plane appeared shortly after players from both teams took a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. There was no indication who had organized the plane and banner.

José Mourinho's Statistics Rant Includes An Outrageously Incorrect Claim

Tottenham manager José Mourinho was less than pleased when asked about Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal player Paul Merson’s comments on Harry Kane not being able to score 25-30 goals a season under Mourinho's style of play. Rather than talking about Kane’s ability, Mourinho took a trip down memory lane to remind everyone of the strikers he's managed in the past.

Brace yourself for a tidal wave of numbers and averages, and pay close attention to Didier Drogba’s stats.

The 5 Most Controversial Goals Ever Scored, Ranked

Controversy is the key ingredient for a well-seasoned, spicy football match. Flops, red cards and VAR are all ingredients for a debatable match. But the crème de la crème — as Thierry Henry’s hand would say — are controversial goals. Here are the top five most controversial goals ever scored.

Belfast Club Forgets That Its New Kit Is Identical To Colors Used By Local Terrorist Organization

Linfield FC is the most successful team in Northern Ireland, winning the NIFL Premiership an astounding 53 times, but recently they made the news for another reason.

On June 10 they launched their new away kit for the 2020-21 season, which, upon first glance, looks like an awkward combination of purple with an orange sash.

Celta Vigo Granted Emergency Transfer For Injured Keeper, Signs Striker Nolito Instead

Celta Vigo’s backup goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez is out for the season with knee ligament damage he suffered in May. Due to Alvarez being out for the season, the Spanish football authorities granted Celta permission to make an emergency signing of another player in LaLiga or a free agent.

With the No. 2 keeper injured, most people would expect the club to sign a player to take his place. Instead, Celta decided that the only way to avoid relegation — only two points separates the club from the relegation zone — is with the signing of its former striker Nolito from Sevilla.
