Things just keep getting better and better for the Mexican National Team.
They recorded a solid 1-0 vs Ecuador, in which Chicharito made scoring a golazo look like delivering the mail. They discovered that one of their youth prospects is the second fastest dribbler in the world. And now they have added a solid win over Paraguay. Everything is coming up El Tri, and everyone is getting in on the action.
Pumas’ Eduardo Herrera earned his first international cap for Mexico against Paraguay, and he made one hell of an entrance. He scored a mere 3 minutes into the game, with his very first international touch ever.
It doesn’t get any better than that. This might honestly the greatest first touch for El Tri in the history of first touches for El Tri. Is there anyone else that has done what Herrera does here?
The only real downside to scoring so early, and with your very first touch of all time, is that the only place to go from there is down. And, there’s nothing wrong with that. What was he going to do, score with every single touch he ever took? He’s Eduardo Herrera not King Midas.
His goal would prove to be the game winner, which is not a bad compromise, even if he did fall from the 1:1 touch-to-goal ratio club.
