LeBron James became an investor in Liverpool FC in April of 2011. His passion for the club was once again demonstrated on Tuesday when he took to Facebook to offer his support to coach Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the squad. He also offered his services to Liverpool should they ever “need a walk on”.
The English Premier League club is about to embark on a tour of the United States, beginning with a match against Chelsea at the Rose Bowl on July 28th and ending with a match against Roma at Busch Stadium on August 2nd.
James included an image of a customized Liverpool kit with the post. The jersey has the name “LEBRON” and number six on the back. Dejan Lovren currently owns the no. 6 jersey for Liverpool, and the Croatian defender was quick to respond on Instagram with the message: “If Lebron wants the number I don’t mind, he is the king”.
The three-time NBA Champion is celebrating the Cleveland Cavaliers incredible triumph over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals, but it’s not a terribly long journey from Cleveland, Ohio, to St. Louis, Missouri.
If there’s one way to make a meaningless preseason friendly exciting, it’s to have King James suit up and take to the pitch, if only for a few minutes.
Something tells me he’d be a handful on corner kicks, although he’d probably defend them á la Jerome Boateng and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
