We all know Lionel Messi is pretty good. Better than pretty good, even. But when one of the best players in the world is in an interview talking about how he was scared that Messi would embarrass him on front of his family, well, that's a different type of good altogether.
Yaya Toure, in an interview with Rio Ferdinand, named his former Barcelona teammate as both the best player he had ever played with and the best player he had ever played against. Toure said last year when Barcelona played Manchester City in the Champions League and Messi went nutmeg-happy, Messi told Toure that he was going to nutmeg every Manchester City player he could find.
We like to think of Messi as a footballing god who's also totally humble and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Obviously, in the back of our minds we know that this is not the case, but this interview just goes to show that Messi has a competitive streak, and isn't afraid to try to get in his opponents' heads every once in a while.
Also, it's hilarious that Yaya Toure, easily one of the best midfielders in the world, was scared to go near Messi for fear of being humiliated in front of his family. And they say someone who is 5'7," 145 lbs. can't be intimidating.
