Miguel Layún se robó las miradas durante el triunfo del América sobre el LAFC de Carlos Vela, Giorgio Chiellini y Gareth Bale, en un amistoso promocional de la Leagues Cup 2023. 

Su protagonismo, sin embargo, no estuvo asociado a una gran performance, sino que a un colosal fail que al menos entregó risas en medio de un duelo árido, aburrido y que tras un par de donuts en el marcador se decidió en la tanda de penaltis.

El Layunazo ocurrió antes del primer cuarto de hora, cuando el jugador agarró un balón fuera del área, se perfiló para rematar y la mandó a Tangamandapio.

Tan malo fue el remate que, una vez acabado el partido, el mismo Layún se troleó a si mismo en redes sociales. 

Varios aficionados del América valoraron el buen humor del experimentado lateral y bromearon con la secuencia.

La mayoría, sin embargo, ante el mal presente del equipo volteó todo su hate y no le perdonaron ni el chiste.

La mala noticias para aquellos que desean la salida de Layún del América es que es casi un hecho la partida de Jorge Sánchez rumbo al América, dejando el puesto titular en la banda derecha a entera disposición de Miguel Arturo.
