It hasn’t taken much, but Jonathan dos Santos has matched his career best for goals in a season. In 66 previous La Liga appearances, Dos Santos had managed a total of two goals, both during his debut season with Villarreal in 2014-15, but he’s already scored twice in only 14 appearances for the Yellow Submarine this campaign.

Known primarily for his work rate and passing on the right-hand side of the midfield, Dos Santos has played a major role in Villarreal’s strong start to the season. The club are currently in fourth, only two points behind Barcelona in second.
On Monday, Villarreal hammered Atletico Madrid 3-0, Dos Santos registering his first goal of the campaign.

If the 26-year-old can add regular goals to his game, the sky’s the limit for both him and Villarreal this season.
