One of the very best players to represent the United States in Canada this Summer is about to tear up the 2015 NWSL season, and she wasted no time getting started.
Megan Rapinoe’s hat trick for the Seattle Reign in their 5-1 win over the Western New York Flash was a stunning display of determination, skill and athleticism; a performance worthy of this season’s first Player of the Week Award.
Feel free to choose any of her goals as her best on the day. Each one has its own merits, but if we are being honest with ourselves we must choose her first. The technique involved in volleying an over the should pass first-time into the the corner of the net is the kind of thing only someone with a black belt in karate should be able to do.
The goal shows exactly why Rapinoe has performed so highly for her country. In 96 appearances she has 29 goals and 30 assists, and we fully expect her to continue that excellent rate of production this summer at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The United States Women’s National Team has some serious talent at its disposal, and we can’t wait to watch it all click.
