So…that was crazy.
It's only every so often that these things happen in sports: a game so shocking where you literally don’t know what’s going on, and you just keep watching, and it keeps getting more shocking. The Brazil-Germany Semifinal in Belo Horizonte Brazil was definitely one of the more surprising outcomes of a World Cup match up, especially given all the hype surrounding Brazil on their home soil. We all thought it would be tough task for Brazil to take down the Germans Neymar-less and Silva-less, but 7-1? Really? Watch The highlights here.
In the end, sadly for Brazilian fans and the country at large, if there's one moment that comes to define this World Cup, it's probably Germany’s historic rout of Brazil. The Selecao completely broke down against Germany, and the hopes and dreams of a country evaporated in a span of 18 minutes when Germany rattled off five goals with ease. As the tears flowed in Brazil, the Twittersphere exploded. As you can see we aren't exaggerating.
Twitter: Brazil-Germany #WorldCup match is biggest single sports match ever: 35,600,000 tweets; sets tweets per minute record at 580,166.
