Neymar signed for Barcelona from Brazilian side Santos after long speculation in 2013. Many argued he wouldn’t work out and that he wouldn’t mesh well with the side. Others spoke of his similarities to former Barcelona and Brazilian international Ronaldinho, and argued these would lead to success for the young winger. It’s been almost 3 years since then and many would say he has surpassed Ronaldinho and made his own name in club history, not only meshing well with the team but bringing a new dynamic and flashy style to their game.
Currently Neymar is on a contract of €134,615 per week, which is set to run out in roughly two years. Barcelona were looking to extend his contract in February but due to a pending investigation on his original deal that saw the Brazilian swap his white and black kit for the legendary blue and maroon. All parties seem relaxed about a renewal as there is still plenty of time to hold talks and give Neymar the contract he deserves and keep him at the Camp Nou for many more years.
There is also plenty of time for a club to offer the Brazilian a contract and a new chapter in his career, and it seems that may very well happen.
Paris Saint-Germain can simply be described as the poster child for “put your money where your mouth is.” Having spent a ridiculous amount of money on big name players since their new owners took over in 2011, PSG have lured some of the best and now best-paid talent to their club.
Neymar is said to be their next big signing and the heir to the throne of Zlatan Ibrahimović, who is set to leave upon his contract running out this summer.
Barcelona are keen to make sure they hold on to the Brazilian starlet, stating that they aren’t interested in selling the player or hearing offers of any sort.
Wagner Ribeiro, Neymar’s agent, has reportedly held talks with the French club who stated they have no problem buying out the rest of Neymar’s contract at Barcelona which at the moment sits at an astonishing €195,000,000. Of course they still have to pay Barcelona more than the buyout clause to get the winger, if they did get him Neymar could reportedly make €300,000 a week and be the key player in the team.
If those numbers aren’t enough to bring Neymar to France, PSG have been using his fellow Brazilian national team teammate Lucas Moura to influence and lure Neymar to play alongside him and help them win trophies for years to come.
While it seems like Neymar just signed for Barcelona not too long ago, he has made a name for himself when most people didn’t think he would last. He has already won everything with the Blaugrana and is a part of one of the best attacking trio’s the game has ever seen. There isn’t much left for the winger to do at the Camp Nou. There also aren’t many teams on the same level as Barcelona at the moment, and it doesn’t seem like there will be anytime soon, which leads you to believe that Neymar wouldn’t leave Spain anytime soon.
