Lionel Messi and his Barcelona teammates, including Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic, took a moment to read tweets about themselves in an ad campaign for the new 2017 Audi Q2. Fortunately for the Barca players, this was nothing like Jimmy Kimmel’s “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” segment.
The players read tweets containing strange tags that ultimately praised them as footballers and individuals. The highlight of the two-minute video is watching Messi awkwardly praise himself.
One user calls Messi an alien, and Messi responds by claiming that he’s completely normal. After his hat trick and assist against Manchester City yesterday, absolutely no one believes him.
Another calls him god, leading Messi to admit that there are people that “say incredible, unbelievable things.”
Messi, that’s not even the half of it.
Pique is effectively compared to the song “Gangnam Style”, Arda Turan is labelled a wizard (which he loves) and Rakitic is called “more down to earth than a pair of slippers”, but he’d rather just be called blonde or “from Seville”. He basically just starts trolling himself.
